PokerStars Michigan has announced that it will run the MICOOP poker series this month. The series will have a freeroll of $10,000 for all depositors with a second freeroll of $20,000 that will be used to support MI’s first ever series.
PokerStars Michigan, the only regulated online poker room in the county has announced the first online poker tournament for Michigan: MICOOP (Michigan Championship of Online Poker)
According to the recent cash game traffic figures, PokerStars Michigan is the largest poker network in the USA. This network is even larger than both the PokerStars PA in Pennsylvania and the entire of WSOP/888 network. This happens only after PokerStars launched its online poker room in Michigan just twelve days ago, making the Michigan room the company’s third regulated online poker room in the USA. This room follows in the footsteps of the company’s launches in New Jersey in 2016 and Pennsylvania in 2019.
All the three poker rooms are independent of one another meaning that client’s money is neither pooled in one place nor at the global dot-com player liquidity platform. In spite of all this, thousands of Michigan players have flocked this new online poker. Michigan has a population of 10 million people.
Players in Michigan will however not wait for long to get into poker action. This is as the PokerStars MICOOP 2020 begins in February 20 and run for over two weeks. The tournament has a guaranteed reward of $1m across the series. Also on offer are a dozen tournaments with a variety of formats that features all bankrolls. Many poker enthusiasts are impressed by how the company has managed to put up such a big tournament in record time.
The PokerStars MICOOP series is way up there with the previous tournaments that we have seen in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The last NJCOOP had a guaranteed cash amount of $1M. This is similar to the first ever PACOOP that had a guaranteed amount of $1M. However, higher amounts have been seen in the recent PACOOPs.
Players should also be on the look out – since these poker tournaments were introduced into the regulated markets in the USA, there have been overlays. History has shown that PokerStars are not afraid to go big on first guarantees. Actually, the company is known to promote big banner guarantees of over $1M. This is evidenced by the fact that in just the past week, we saw very impressive overlays for players. From this, we can see that Michigan players may be in for some pretty good value in the form of big guarantees and promotions. Players may even be treated with more value in the ambitious schedule. There are about 60 events in the schedule with buy-ins of between $10 and $500.
The highlight of the tournament is a buy-in amount of $300 and a $125,000 in the main event. In addition, there is a host of other tournaments that have a guarantee of $20,000 and higher. Sunday Special and the operator’s flagship weekend tournament are two other highlights of the tournament. One has a buy in of $250 and $200 in the other and $50000 and $40000 guarantees respectively.
Most games are NL Hold’em but run on variant of pokerstars’ gamut including: PKOs, Big Ante, Deepstacks, spread across slow, Rebuys, Zoom MTTs, Freezeouts, Marathons, turbo and hyper speeds.
Other poker variants that are available in the tournament include: 5 Card Omaha, 5-Card Draw, Limit Stud Hi/Lo, Omaha hi/lo, HORSE and 8-Game. Each of these games comes with specific gambling bonus offers.
